Rough Country 2.5" BB problems
Hey guys
I just had my rough country 2.5" bb installed today with Mickey Thompson 35 MTZ's and Cragar soft 8's. My neighbor owns a collision shop and is a Jeeper as well. His company did the install. He drove it in this morning and then took it for a test run once the lift and tires were on. He said it is all over the place, need 2 hands to drive it. He explains it as the vertical stability is off, and the jeep is all over the road. Currently he is looking at adjusting the caster angles. Has any body had a similar problem or can anybody help me out? Oh it's a 2008 4door x with Stick. no other mods. It was also just the spacer lift no shocks.
Thanks
Chris

You shouldnt need caster adj with a 2.5 BB. We had the Teraflex 2.5 BB on for about 10K and it drove great. The RC and Tera are basically the same...
Did he retorque everything with the Jeep on the ground and not supported by the lift?

Well this scares me now, because I am about to get this lift. I am thinking of just paying the extra money to the dealer to avoid any problems with warranty and issues like this. Am I being silly for saying that?

You are definitely going to need an alignment. Mine did and I only put 33's on. With 35's you are also going to need a larger steering dampener than stock. I put the T'flex on mine and the steering is much tighter now. You can get it from Quadratec for like $35. Other than that, I have had no problems with mine. Depending on how wide your tires are, they can cause some wondering. Hope this helps. Good luck!!

Do it yourself. I put mine on in 2.5 hours with no lift, just a jack and two jackstands in my driveway.

did he attach the sway bar while it Jeep was in the air or once it was on the ground. If he did it while it was still up in the air you'll get the death wobble that everyone talks about.
I have the same lift and have no problems at all and I did the install myself.

With 2.5 BB, I only needed to center the steering wheel, no alignment needed. It drove straight, handled fine, and tires wore perfectly for the 10K I had it on for. Besides, the only adjustments that can be done by an alignment shop to a stock JK with only a BB are centering the steering wheel and Toe-in.
And my stock steering stabilizer is still fine. I even ran our JK without it, just to see how everything felt and I didnt even have a shimmy.

You can always add a new stabilizer later. I have had my lift on for about 5 months and just decided to change the stabilizer. It is only two 18 mm bolts to swap it out. Did mine today and it took 5 minutes. You should be fine. Drive it for a while and throw one in if your steering gets a little jerky.
