Rough Country 2.2 Shock BROKEN!!
You know what sucks when you've got a Jeep full of kids doing 65mph on the highway??
Your rear shock fails.
Looks like Rough Country isnt meant for the rough roads of the northeastern USA :(
Rough Country 2.2 drivers side rear shock:
Ground down:
Looks like my passenger rear is leaking too:
I'll bring it to the shop to fab a temporary mount, but do you think RC should cover this??
Anyone got a contact at RC I can call?
Argh.

Called.
Since I bought them secondhand, I'm shit outta luck and theres nothing they can do for me.
To be honest, I dont think I'll be going back to RC considering some of the QC issues theyve been having. The shocks have apprx 20k miles on them and they are failing.
Time for some bilsteins, TF or OME. F RC.

I don't like the shock failing thing too much at all but, I do wholeheartedly agree with your signature rich1340! Seriously, shocks should not fail this soon!

My daughter had the exact same failure on her JK. The upper rear bar pin on the RC 2.2 shock broke. Fortunately she was on a dirt road and the shock wasn't damaged - just some scratches.
She also drives on very rough roads every day - 30 miles round trip to town over a very poor, partially paved single-lane "road" through some cattle ranches.
RC got us a replacement bar pin in 3 days - but charged us $0.75 + shipping.
I don't think much of their bar pin design. Making them out of tubing was probably a bad idea and I'm making some replacements out of bar stock. There are also some bar pin eliminators on the market which might be a worthwhile option.

I ordered two new rear shocks from RC, plus a body lift.. That should get me through until I figure what to do next.
I'm in Westchester County, along the hudson about 10 minutes north of the TZ.
