GOBI with quick discos, I can tilt it back, change tops or lower/raise the softtop, then reconnect it in about 10 minutes. You can remove the freedom panels without moving the rack. I only use it a few times a year, and it's not difficult to take off completely but you need a buddy to at least help get it down or on top.

Quick question: I see how the front quick releases work, but how does the rear come completely off? thanks

I do have the ladder. I traded a guy my softop for his hardtop and removed the ladder prior to meeting him. He brought a friend and the 3 of us slid the hardtop from behind under the rack. I never got around to reinstalling the ladder.

Since then I removed the hardtop with just my wife using the same method. When we put it back on I'll attach the ladder again. If memory serves me correctly there are only 3 bolts that hold the ladder on so it should be no big deal.

And as an alternative to the high $$ Gobi, you can buy the N-Dure (also marketed as Garage Pro) from JCWhitney for under $300. It is a full rack like the Gobi, roof can be removed by lifting up and sliding out to the rear. There is a good thread on that rack, use the search function for "garage pro install). Probably 12 pages of multiple installs...
