Also when getting a custom cage put in the more prep work you do before hand the less the shop has to do(remove carpet, seats, drill the hole in the dash) so you can cut down on costs there.

I absolutely agree with you but I think there is a general starting point.

And I know that I can save money and still be safe but I can also save money and not be safe. My point is, is a bolt in cage going to be sufficient? Or is a weld in cage necessary ?

The Synergy cage is welded to to your existing cage. It adds cross bracing at the upper and lower windshield and harness bars behind the front and back seats. It adds A pillar and B pillar supports that bolt to the bottom of the tub, directly underneath the tub in these locations is a welded frame mount. The frame mount is bolted through the tub to the A and B Pillar supports. There is so a C pillar support, it is bolted to the tub w no frame mount. It also adds stringer bars from the upper windshield bar to the center console and then to the existing upper rear bar.

Custom cages would most likely start at $3000 and go up from there, depending on what you wanted and of you wanted them to work with OEM soft or hard tops. At least, that is what I found

Really does sound like the poly perf. Cage does exactly what I need it to do.
