Ace rails install on the body mount bolts that screw into captive nuts in the body that pass through rubber isolators that ride on the frame. That makes them float with the body and to do that, you would have to realize they are mounted to the body.

Went with LoD's 7 weeks and counting...but I still think it will be worth the wait based on what i have read.

Its tough to access these areas for cleaning, prepping and touchup or repaint. Im getting ready to have them stripped and powder coated before i install them on the new 2012. Oh and what were they thinking when using bare steel for their emblems, these rusted up within a couple months.
I am a little concerned about this as well living in MN where they use salt in the winter time. I went with the Zinc coating will see if it does anything other than waste $85

ACE rails are held in place by the body mount bolts, this is true. However any upward or lateral force would be transferred to the frame welded body mounts. I suppose one could weld the ACE rail directly to the body mount bracket for extra strength.

OEM Rubi rails are body mounted since they are only held in place and secured to the body.

For me, with shipping the ace rails were $400+ shipped. I bought the LOD for $650 shipped. Difference of $250. i sold my rubi rails for $150. Difference of $100. For $100 I will take the strength of the frame mount.

i use ace, i love them. I also have the rubi rails underneath as i feel it really finishes off the look. in terms of how they hold up to abuse...

well i think they do fine
