I think my Teraflex are perfect fit for me:

affordable,

look nice,

work great as steps for the kids,

Protect against Rocks

Protect against car doors (they are the perfect height to catch most car doors. I've seen them get hit hard enough to take paint off the offended).

Because they are a "solid" step, they also keep the road grime off.

But, because they are aluminum I don't know if they would be quite as tough as some of the body mount steel sliders if you are heave duty rock climber.

I just ordered these LoD sliders a week or so ago. I think they look great, and they will work as a step and for rocker protection.

Good luck in your decision, and let us know what you decide to go with!

I put the Rugged Ridge Rock Rails with Step on mine. They are Black Powder Coated with texture, helps with the slipping in the rain issue, provide a "triangle pattern to create step and rock slider. They bolt onto the frame (using the 4 Frame Body Mounts) . They seem to satisfy all of your request and suggestions from others. Might not be for you, but I love mine.
