Default Rock Rail / Sliders

Ok I have looked at a lot of threads about rock rails / sliders.

Which are the best?

and

What criteria are you using to make that claim?

depends on what you're looking for. if you are looking for maximum clearance and strenght, the pure jeep body mounted rocker guards are some of the best around. if you are looking for a frame mounted solution, the shrockworks or LoD's are what i would recommend.

I am trying to find one that can cover the most .

Protect the side
not take up to much ground clearance
act as a step to get in.

I kinda like the Olympic reversa rails as you can have them down for street and put them up for the trail.

Is that just 1 more hassle to get trail ready?

they take up alot of ground clearance. i would worry about hitting them hard as well. they mount off the body mounts and only two of them.

Frame mounted ones can flex into your rocker pannel.

I want my rock rails sticking out at all times. Especially on the strreet. I've been hit 2 different times, in two different Jeeps, by side impact at realatively slow speeds of around 25 MPH. No damage to either of my Jeeps
One was in the snow. The second was in a parking lot where I was driving by the entrance, on the street with right of way. Poor old guy got out of his Tarus, now with the front end trashed, and commented he had just got his car back from the body shop !!!
Rock rails that stick out beyond the side of the body offer side protection and a good location for using a Hi-Lift. They also make handy steps. I put non-skid tape on mine like they use on metal stairs

Excellent idea about the non-skid tape. Ask me how it felt to slide off a rail in the rain.
