Anyway, my question is whether there are any suspension kits out there that give our vehicles much better on road handling characteristics. I am willing to give up a lot of the vehicle's off road capabilities to gain on road handling.

This is my first jeep so I am not very experienced with what is out there. Your help is very much appreciated.
Why didn't you buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. Its fast, handles well on the road and with good tires will forfill your needs for winter driving. Just my

The Rubicon Express or Mopar long arm will give you the best on road handling. It makes compromises but if you're not taking it off road, they don't matter.

You'll want to get some bigger A/T tires, it will just look stupid if you don't. Toyo Open Country A/T's

For shocks Old Man Emu or Bilstein. But you might want to call Dave at Northridge 4X4 ( 360 340-0282 ) and see what he recommends for what ever type of ride you want.

uhhhmmmmm, you realize Re lift and mopar are the same??

what are these compromises u mention? since i have the 4.5" RE LA, im curious about the compromises u say. if he is looking for on road performance, i do not recomend this lift, it rides hella good, but its for offroad and i sure as hell wouldnt spend $3000 for onroad suspension

I agree with Capt Jay. A long arm kit is overkill for the road. It will certainly improve the ride on the road, but not necessarily the handling.

I agree if you want the best ride do not modify a thing. Including tires and wheels.

I disagree. The stock setup is still a compromise of on and off road performance with a bias for safety.

Several suspensions provide better ride and few provide better handling. Case in point the AEV product.

I would grab a stiffer rear sway bar, I believe Full Traction makes one, and then roll from there. A stiffer rear sway bar is going to reduce body roll and reduce understeer. From there I might move on to shocks and perhaps some spacers to get the vehicle in balance.

Beyond that, I can't think of much I would do with the intent as listed. A Wrangler probably wasn't the right fit for what you want to do with it and throwing money at it is a bad path when you likely won't get to a point where you're happy with the performance.

Try wheel spacers and low profile high performance tires.
