Default Ripped out the truck lights for jw's- my experience....

I wanted to post this up for the guys on the fence for the TL VS JW'S. When I got my Truck lights put in I was not happy about the pattern of the light and the total output. It seemed to have "Dead Spots" in the lighting, meaning, after 10 ft the beam would darken a little and then the light pattern would get brighter. I had Rebel aim them 3 times just to see if it was an aiming issue but it wasnt. Almost as bad, I had 2 huge U's at the end of the light pattern. It was really prevelant when waiting at a light behind a car at night (You could clearly see the U's in the light pattern). I thought this was B.S. for lights costing $450

Ive heard nothing but good things about the JW's. I paid $439 for the TL and $769 for the JW's, so the JW's are not cheap, BUT, after having them installed last night, in my OPINION, they are light years ahead of TL's in quaility, beam pattern and light output. The light has a super crisp cut off and the light is extremley full in its pattern (No dead spots at all and illuminates the road much, much better). I can see much better at night with the JW's. There have been several magazine tests that confirmed this, but when I started out I had a hard time with the idea of paying $770 for headlights.

The old saying is true in this case, you do get what you pay for. There are quite a few guys on the forum that love their TL's and have zero issues. I wish I was one of them because I would have saved another $330, but I thought mine were mediocre at best. In my opinion, spend the extra money and buy the best the 1st time around, or at the very least find someone on the forum that has both and judge for yourself. I'm the kind of cat that tells it like it is. I wish the TL'S worked, but in my opinion the quality wasnt there, if it was, I would be praising them. The info I get off this board has helped me out a ton, so I wanted to make sure I reciprocated, hopefully Ive done that with my experience here, happy Jeepin guys!

Can't speak to the trucklites but I have been pleased by the JW's. I've had them for several months and don't regret them, I just wish they were cheaper.

Is you opinion based on the first Gen of TL's? I have the newer ones and I have absolutely no complaints what so ever. Sure there's the known X pattern as you describe but it's hardly noticeable unless your staring at the road 10' ahead of you, which in that case I say give up driving. Light output is great, the build quality is equally as good and oh, they don't look like bug eyes

Granted, I have yet to see the JW's in action but no doubt they must be excellent for $700

I am talking about the 2nd generations. And yes, when I drive I do stare at the road, thats how I see where I'm going. Give up driving because I dont want to see a big ass U when I'm looking 10ft down the road, ok

Really, what do you look at when your driving, your feet???? I'm not even sure why I'm wasiting my time responding to this but common sense would say that I scan the road and everything on it when I'm driving at night. Pretty hard not to see a big ass U/X in my field of vision in the light pattern.
