Default RIPP COLD AIR INTAKE & RiverRaider Snorkel

I wanted a snorkel that didn't gooseneck so I landed on the river raider safari. I like the look and it performs wonderfully according to many write-ups and reviews. The mount can be raised if needed but looks a bit awkward. I ALSO PLAN ON COLOR MATCHING IT TO MY JK. UNFORTUNATELY loss of power is a common side effect of a snorkel instal due to the bends in the air flow path to the air box.... Sooooo I figured a proven gains intake was a must and decided on the RIPP cold air intake "for most snorkels" it's YouTube videos and reviews claim that after Dyno testing from stock to equipped, the average was +20 foot pounds of torque and +6hp with much improvement in mid range power.

Although I'm not a fan of the tall stovepipe look, it has it's place. I do like the look of the low profile, as it looks very clean on the JK.
As for the performance factor, what have you noticed??? It appears there would have to be a 90* bend where the tubbing meats the bottom of the snorkle. On the other hand you are getting air from outside the vehicle rather than in the engine bay. I would think that on cold days there would be a bit of power increase due to this. Thinking at all about insulating the air tubbing from the snorkle to the intake for less heat saturation???
At any rate looks very good.

I hadn't thought about a heat wrapping the snorkel tubing with heat shield! That's a great idea! As for the performance, I won't know until it arrives on Wednesday. I'm going to Dyno the jeep with just the stock air box first, then the intake and finally with the intake and snorkel. That way I'll have an idea of my true power loss/gain. Thanks for the advice man! 👍

What kind of filter do they include? Dry or oiled?

Delivered today and my buddy and I installed ours in about 20 minutes.

Sounds really cool but other than that I'm only noticing a 20 degree running temp drop and no noticeable feeling in acceleration or power.

Still happy and waiting for the snorkel to deliver.
