Default Ripp

i'm considering putting a ripp on my 09 jku but i have some questions. my jeep has the 3.8 with about 90000 miles on it. so my concern is will the engine hold up. my reason for getting the ripp is for more power when towing my camper. another concern i have is i have an aftermarket trans cooler in front of the radiator, will this be in the way of the intercooler and will it still cool the trans enough?

I can't talk to longevity, since I only added RIPP to my 2011 in March. But, I can talk to the after market trans cooler. I also had added a trans cooler prior - YES the intercooler goes where the trans cooler is currently. We just re-located the trans cooler to directly below the intercooler. I also added a trans temp gauge along with the boost/vacuum gauge. The digital gauge shows me exactly how well the cooler is working.

I ran a RIPP on my 3.8L for the same reason as you, assist with towing. I found that the engine had plenty with the SC but the transmission kept searching for the gear it wanted to be in. This created surging as it would go between 3rd and 4th.

That said, I ran the SC from 20,000 miles to 72,000 miles with no troubles. I installed my trans cooler between the radiator and the engine. I also ran a trans temp gauge.

I put my Ripp SC on at about 90k and have 112k now. No issues so far.

I run my Trans cooler between the inter cooler and the radiator. They don't touch but it's close. No issues w Trans temps

have you towed with this setup? that my main concern with the trans cooler being in between the intercooler and radiator.

No towing at all. Can't help you there.

Have a trans and PSC cooler installed behind my intercooler, no problems. Installed my Ripp with about 50k on the clock. Also have the high altitude pulley installed for the additional boost.

As for the longevity, as long as you are not drag racing from red light to red light you will be fine. Ripp has done a fine job with their stock tune to ensure the engine will last.
