Does anyone have the correct size of the ring gear bolts in a NON-Rubicon Dana 44 from the rear of an 07 X? This would be an early 2007 build (purchased in May of 2007).

A rear end shop said it could be either 7/16 or 1/2 inch. The front of the Rubicon is 7/16 inch.

 

the rear end shop is right as far as i know ...When i changed my 3.21s to 4.10 s the 3.21s used 1/2 bolts and the 410s used 7/16s...

 

Yes, you could have 7/16" bolts if it's an early early '07 or 1/2" more common.
My '07 X with 3.21's had 1/2" bolts, mid year build.
Motive Gear Overhaul kits include both 7/16" and 1/2" bolts...so...I have some extra 7/16" bolts if you need 'em

 

The early 2007 ring bolts were 7/16" and then they changed to 1/2" in mid 2007 depending on your manufacturing location. My 2007 X was manufactured in September 2007 but it still had the 7/16" bolts. I don't think there is any way to tell for sure what you have without taking off the cover. However, many of the ring and pinion installation kits come with both sizes of bolts so you should be covered.

 

Just for the record, my early 07 X Dana 44 has 1/2 inch bolts/ The front Dana 44 Rubi locker has 7/16 inch bolts.
