Would you consider 16x10? I've heard 15's have rubbing issues. I was talked into 16x8 for the same reason. It has to do with the wheel backspacing.

There are a selection of 15" wheels that will fit without problems. Search for the Discount Tire post. They have a line of exclusive wheels they basically designed for this purpose.

Many (perhaps most) 15" wheels will rub on the brake calipers.

I'd suggest a 9 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing and some 33x12.50 tires.

I agree on less wheel width. 10" wide wheels are unnecessary unless running very wide tires (13" wide+). An 8" wide wheel will easily handle a 12.50" wide tire.

Also, the wider your setup, the more tire sticks out of the fender. This makes it so ever little puddle kicks up water/filth all over your vehicle. Getting a Jeep dirty on the trails is one thing, getting dirty on a dry day when a half inch puddle of dirty water sprays your whole vehicle (and interior if naked) is quite another.

Also, the when you get a wider stance, you move the tread out beyond the typical tread of most vehicles on the highway. This causes you to wander in and out of the ruts on the roadway and can make for some squirrelly highway rides. Anyone that's ran a 12.50" tire can attest.

I was told today that i should go with a 17 in wheel and that anything over a 33 would rub.

Why should you go with a 17 in wheel? You can get 15 in wheels. Since you're looking to get steel wheels, then most of them will rub the caliper and you'd have to trim a bit. If you get alloy 15 in wheels, then most likely you won't have to trim at all. I'd go with alloys. Look better and weigh less.

Go with a 16'' wheel for no rubbing and more tire selection also less money for tires.

Largest tire with no rubbing....32x10.50 or metric equivalent
33x11.50x17 or 285/70r17 on 17x9 4.75" bs rubs factory air dam at full turn and rear fender at full flex. Both ever so slightly, but yes, rubs. This is my experience with my 2012 JKUR.
