Default Rigging a Jerry Can to the stock rear bumper...

This is all I got so far, it's strapped using a rubber bungee from the tailgate hinge to the inside of the tire carrier and theres another smaller bungee going from the handle to the inside as well. I know it wouldn't be safe if I filled it with gas, so I'm in the process of fabbing some sort of rear mount attached to the tire carrier's existing bolts. I would love to add a locking feature too. What do you guys think?

Have you considered duct tape as an alternative?

Bubblegum is way better than duct tape. Get with it man.

So if it's not safe holding gas, what's the point? Would like to see what you come up with for a more permanent mount.

To hold it in place so I can visualize what it would look like and create a bracket to fit around it.

How do you plan on opening your tailgate? I have a stock rear bumper and just installed a rotopax on a mount that attaches to the spare tire mount through the center cap of the wheel

How about using one of these? You would have to fab up some mounts but it locks and is a good start.

You might need some sort of limiting strap so you dont smash your passenger tail light when you open the gate.

Look on quadratech under racks there is one called an I-rack or intelligent rack I think that's something that could benefit you.
