Not to go to far off topic but Planman what have you done or planning to do to upgrade steering with a 15 inch wheel?

I do too, but if the guy doesn't like they way his current tires run he probably doesn't want 15s...

The new BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain could be what your after. http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-...rain-t-a-tires

It's a onroad tire with aggressive offroad looks.

Good tips Planman. Lighter tires exactly. I wont get started on "rotational mass", it's enough that the RT03's I have weigh too much to put on the stock tire carrier. I think i'll sell the four 18'' as is and get some stock 17''s and put some A/T's like you suggested (and match the spare of course). Thanks for the input all.

I second this one. Lighter than the BFG AT and definitely a good option for someone that occasionally wheels plus a 50K mile warranty. The new Cooper AT3 is also a promising looking tire. Both are a hybrid all-terrain tire, but they're as aggressive (if not more) than most other manufacturers all-terrain offerings. I'm tempted to get a set of the Rugged Terrains for daily use and a set of bias 35x10-16 Swamper Boggers (or Simex) for offroad.

Exactly what i was thinking. The Terra's sound like they'll fit you perfectly. Great Tire, Great price too.

Cool Craigslist

Look on craigslist. I just bought a set of 4 18" Sahara wheels with stock tires for $150.

I was really wanting a set of 16" or 17" wheels, but for $150 a set I couldn't pass up. The tires even have about 15-20,000 miles left.

Eventually I'll use the tires and sell my 18" set of 5 and buy a set of 17" off craigslist.

I have been extremely happy with my Goodyear Duratracs on the highway. They are very quiet and look almost as agressive as a mud terrain. So far they have been very responsive in pouring rain and if they wear well, I will definately keep them for a while. I had the Hankook Dynapro M/T before and the Duratracs are much quieter. Also the Bridgestone A/T Revo are another quiet tire.

If your looking for street daily driving you can pick up a set of OEM tires in 255/75 r17 for a reasonable price but if your looking to get a set of AT's, like the BFG TKO or instance, than your cheapest option is to swap to 15" rims. The additional cost of the rims is offset by the lower cost of the tires and will save you again on subsequent tire purchases.

+1 on going with 15's
