Replacing control arm bolts ( Grade 8 ) Questions ??
I am about to replace them tonight and re grease my adjustable controls arms. I can't really find anything that says the best way to do so. I know when putting the bolts back into place the easiest way is to use the jack in different places on the axle to get the bolt holes to line up with the control arms to get back in im just curious about taking out.
Should I ?
Jack up the Jeep, take off tires, and allow axle to hang when taking out bolts?
or
Take them off with the Jeep on its own weight with tires and everything on?
Thanks guys

When I did mine, I put some frame weight on jack stands, with the tire still on the ground. This kept hole misalignment to a minimum.
Do one at a time. If the control arms need some aligning, just roll the tire a little. My track bar didn't need any alignment, as the frame and axle couldn't move sideways.
Just snug the bolts until all the weight is back on the tires, then bring them up to torque spec.
This technique worked well on mine and a few others I have done.

I would say, if you are just removing and replacing the control arm bolts, just leave the jeep on the ground. On the ground, tires on, parked in a level space, and do one bolt at a time. The bolts should be torqued with the weight of the vehicle on the axle. I put control arm drop brackets on mine, and never needed a jack. By doing one at a time, the axle is not going to suddenly roll away. You can also use the tire to push or pull the axle to help line up the bolt holes, should they lose some alignment.
My .02 cents.
