Replacing 4 Mud Tires sucks!!
#22
I've been running my Trail Grapplers for 4 years and about 40k now and I might have 10k before they're slicks. And I've rotated every 3k miles and run them at 30 PSI. Sorry but I don't see ANY mud terrain tire getting 100k miles....or really ANY tire for that matter! Tires aren't designed to last that long and tire manufacturers certainly aren't gonna' produce tires with that kind of treadlife. That would put them out of business in a hurry!
Not saying I don't believe you....but.....I don't believe you. Or at least I don't believe you're telling the whole story.

My take is that it isn't necessarily impossible to get high miles on a tire. Take into consideration that there really is no exact linear relationship between the number of miles on a tire and the wear on a tire. There are so many other variables that dictate tire wear:
- Quality/condition of tire from the factory
- Alignment
- Frequency of rotation
- Driving habits (ie. Cornering, acceleration, braking, etc.)
- Speed
- Road material and condition
- Temperature
- Weight of vehicle
- And on and on....
Kudos to you, sir.

I had over 50% tread left on KM2's that had handy 45k miles on them when I sold my XJ. Probably 90% of those miles were highway, and 5 tire rotation every 3k miles.
Since I off road a fair bit I was ready to replace them, but, I could see someone being careful and getting another 45+K out of them.
100k out of a set of 5 is not out of question in my mind... I'd never run them that low, but to each his own.

i also agree
that its not out of the question .
i wouldnt rush to call the guy a liar over miles on tires . He maybe telling the truth or he may have mis calculated the miles a little but, its obvious he has lots of miles on them as seen in photos with little sign of cupping . That tells me he rotates , and drives easy , and keeps his alignment correct .
ive gotten 100,000 out of bfg muds before
i have been running the trail grapplers too i like them . i doubt ill get 130,00 out of them but if i could id be
overly pleased. It always sucks having to shell out cash for tires , its one of those things you never seem to put away money for in advance lol
trail grapplers are wearing nice so far . prob 40,000 on mine
if i got 80,000 id even be happy . by then you want new ones on there anyway, least i do.
