removing sharp edges on poison spyder stuff before powder coating….necessary??

Default removing sharp edges on poison spyder stuff before powder coating….necessary??

does the powder coating take the edge off the metal when completed? the edges seem a little sharp on the bare metal…just looking for input from those who have had some poison spyder stuff powder coated. thx

Clean them up with some alcohol and a scotch bright. Thats really all that needs to be done. It will help remove the scale that leads to adhesion issues.

i meant more the sharp edges, will they stay the same after powder coating or do they round out a little with the powder on them?

The powder coating will round out the edge enough to be dull to the touch. We powder coat sheet metal every day where I work.
Radiusing the corner before powder may give you better adhesion though.

I would advise cleaning up your edges first, you will be happier knowing the quality is better, and on the off chance on of those burrs under the powdercoat breaks off it will leave behind chips that can spread. Maybe not in a visible spot but it could be enough to start rust.

I'll also say people prolly ignore stuff like this all day every day no problem. It's up to you
