I had a body shop do the same thing and the owner of the body shop (who personally applied the badge) told me he was certain on the placement because he had a JK as well. He also put my Trail Rated badge dead center in the middle of the fender instead of mirroring the factory antenna.

Screwdriver wasn't a good choice for me and it ended up leaving a couple marks in the paint but at least I got my badging where it belonged. I ended up buying a new badge and discarding the old. They're $50 at the dealer and $20ish on eBay but worth every penny for the satisfaction of the correct factory location.

Yeah what I always thought was weird was that the cost for the chrome emblem was 42 through the dealer but the black gloss was only 19.00

Had to use a combo of screwdriver with rag and floss. Now I just need to find goo-gone.
