Removeable tailgate mod

Removeable tailgate mod
I dont know if I am the first to do this but I figured Id share my work with everyone.
So after buying a cheapo 4wheeler I needed a way to transport it but I dont have a trailer. I brought it home in the back of the Jeep but it was barely hanging in there and both seats were all the way forward. This was not going to cut it. After long thought I figured I could get a rack and let the rear wheels rest on that but just let the tailgate hang open tied to the tire of the 4wheeler. I decided that this was not going to work in the long run and decided to make the tailgate removeable so it wasnt in the way or just hanging out there with all the weight on the hinge.
I removed the tailgate by the 6 torx(T50) and layed it flat on a soft surface. I cut the pin most of the way through in the center with a sawzall and finished it through with a small hacksaw that the blade protrudes out the front so there is no handle around the front of the blade. Once I got it all of the way through I put a flat tip screwdriver in the cut and drove it between the pieces pressing one end or the other out of its seat. That end I grabbed with vicegrips and twisted it back and fourth until it came all of the way out. The other end was knocked out using a long bolt as a drift punch.going through the cleared hole. The other hinge was done the same way. I had bought some farm use locking pins but they turned out to be the wrong length. Since I was so far into the project and now couldnt put the gate back on I just used the bolt I had used as a drift punch and chop it and another down to length.
This mod really worked out for me and allows me to transport the 4wheeler easily without a trailer. I can also now buy larger things at Lowes without having to borrow a truck for transporting it. Thanks for any feedback and feel free to ask any questions that I may not have covered.

I don't recall having seen the option of removing the tail gate for larger items. It's one of those simple, good ideas.
Can you post a picture of the hinges with the gate on and the removable hinge pins in place?

Today I had to pick up some 8 ft long baseboard in my Unlimited. I struggled with it because I was worried I would scratch my soft top windows.
This guy sawzalls his hingepins and fits a four wheeler in the back of a two door. This guy rocks
