Any chance you could post some more pics of the sleeves and describe it a little more in depth? I've never heard of it and can only picture a tube that completely covers the smaller tube of the axle. If that's it, what all does that require you do? Shave off all brackets and reattach?

I get my sleeves and gussets on Tuesday. Sleeves are a tube that goes inside the stock tube. The outer stock tube is then welded to the new inner. The previously posted pics show the inner tube being pressed inside the stock tube.
Edit: Fixed creative spelling.

Ok, cool. Does that cause any premature wear issues for the shafts and such? or are there no negative side affects? If not, I'll wanna jump right on this.

In theory, there should be no negative side effects to adding sleeves, assuming they are installed properly and no metal shards are left inside.
To make it easy, I would prioritize a D30 axle build accordingly in order of importance.
Mandatory mods
- Gussets
- Tack the u-joints if not going with chomo axle shafts
Recommended mods
- Chomo axle shafts
- Lockers (ARB, Aussie, etc)
Optional Mods
- Sleeves
- Control arm skids
- Reinforce the track bar mount
However, in my case the gussets and sleeves are cheap and make sense to do at the same time. Chromo shafts, gears, and lockers will follow shortly. Then comes the new engine/tranny skid and the lift, and finally the 35s.

Really? I thought that somewhere I had read the tubes on the D30 were 2.5" and the D44 were 3". Is that my imagination again?

i was looking for the same information on building a bether front axle for cheap or less trouble than a dana 60. might not be as solid on some place but maby this will interest you.
( not my axle just found that on the internet yesterday. )
i dont think it would be to tough to do. i think i can make all the part out of ''woodcardbord'' and maby bring it to a machine shop. i dont have many tools at home. after that just need to weld everithing.
what do you think of that.
just need to paint that with por 15 and all done.
if i can find a front jk axle at junk yard i might do that.

Yep the front tubes and Cs on the 44 and the 30s are the same. The Pumpkin and innards are the only difference. The Rear 44 tubes are larger.
