I have a '11 JKU with the 6 speed manual and a 3.5" lift with 35s. I had recently ordered 4.56 gears and the RIPP stage 2 gen 2 and plan on installing them during my 2 week R&R. The issue is the 4.56 gears are still back ordered (ordered 17DEC12) and will most likely not make it before I have to return. I have jumped back and forth between 4.56 and 4.88 but am now thinking about switching my order to 4.88. Is there any drawbacks that I am possibly not thinking of that should make me stay with 4.56 instead of 4.88? It is my DD and mainly sees city driving. Need some help deciding.

If you are mainly city you will like the performance, on the highway you will run a bit high on rpm's but will still have plenty of performance. 4.88 should be a good option for you.

Besides running higher rpm's on the interstate as mentioned, I think you will like the 4.88's. They will give you a great crawl ratio off road, and give you more torque. Your fuel economy might take a slight hit though, depending how you drive it.

We've got a 2010, 33s,AT, 4.88s, and gained a mile per gallon. Best mod to date.

Awesome, thank you guys for the reassurance. I'm sure I'll see a drop in mpg regardless due to the RIPP and me wanting to step on it from time to time. But hey it's a Jeep we didn't buy them because they were eco friendly. Can't wait for the install!
