Could be wrong but in the old days corrosion warranty covered damage starting from the inside. It was an easy sell once everyone had the E-Coat body pre-paint treatment process on their lines. (Google it Kids)
Our problem with hinges is the EXTERNAL surfaces where they can ding you with the reason for corrosion being caused by..wait for it..damages from external sources. And they would be right. Stone chips/road salt/etc.
In all fairness Jeep has been great in that most people including myself have had hinges repainted under warranty when technically they could have said FU.
Best to talk to the man and calmly state that rust showing on a fairly new vehicle isn't really great for attracting new customers

Yes, but it depends on the severity and the dealer. If one denies a claim, try another.

Actually, the corrosion on some of these hinges starts with water trapped from the inside. That's how mine were, although nothing a little beadblasting won't fix.

The inside I'm referring to is inside behind the body skin for warranty purposes.
Are you talking inside between the door skin and hinge or between the hinge and the paint itself.
Water inside the door itself is impossible (bottom drain holes and inner panel etc.)
If you're talking just under the paint with no chips then the problem is electrolysis due to the dissimilar metals bolted together.
If it's between the hinge and door skin then the door has been through Armageddon and there is no explanation as to why

Regardless they know there is a problem and in most cases will fix you up within a reasonable time after purchase. Just mine and other folks I know experiences.

My main point was removing the hinges to paint is a secondary job that just opens you up to future trouble.
But hey go nuts and remove your engine to do an oil change-your choice
