Anyone with this winch have a buddy with a 9500lb+ in another brand and want to run a test for us?
My winch just arrived on 12/22, I ordered it on 12/21

It's gonna be few days (possibly a few weeks due to holiday priorities) before it's actually installed. After it's installed, I hope I never have to use it. Therefore, I was comfortable spending $544.40 with accessories, tax and shipped to my door.

Price included the following:
Recon 10,500 lbs Premium Winch Kit - This premium winch kit comprises of a Recon 10,500 lbs Winch which is fully waterproof and has a Wireless Remote and Synthetic Rope + an Accessory Kit comprising of a 10ft Tree Saver / Tow Strap, 2 Bow Shackles and a Snatch Block and Free Neoprene Waterproof Cover.

I've been looking at winches for several months, I couldn't justify spending double the price for brands you mentioned with steel cable and no extra accessories. If I thought I would use a winch on a regular basis (such as a tow\recovery company), I would've purchased one of the big name manufacturers and write it off as a business expense.

Good luck with your decision

Received my winch today. Hopefully weather will cooperate tomorrow. If so, I will have some cool before and after pics tomorrow.

I'v had mine since i came home from Iraq, around April this year, it has pulled my boat out of my back yard for me, un-stuck me and been a great help. the only issue i had once is it wouldnt wind in, i tapped the selenoid and it worked fine.

Does anyone have a copy of the amp load for these winches? I'd be interested to see how much juice they suck up. I was holding out for a hydraulic winch, but in the interim this might be a good option I could sell later or keep as a backup.

300 amps at 10.5K isn't too bad at all. That definitely is an interesting winch. I looked at the Smittybuilt XRC-10 Comp winch with the syn line, but the dang thing draws almost 500 amps at full load. It was 290amps at 6K pound load. Those specs look similar to Smittybuilt's 24V version. Is the Recon a 24V winch?

No it is a 12V system. It's a big motor, so it doesn't have to work as hard.

Well, I got mine installed and tried it out with the snatch block, d rings and the tree saver.

My motorhome (about 18 to 20K pounds) is stuck in mud to the rear diff, I got it stuck trying to get it out of the dirt spot I keep it. If you didn't know, we got more rain than normal here. Anyways, I setup for a slightly down hill double line pull (with snatch block) and used an F-350 as anchor. The winch pulled my Jeep with the tires blocked and the F-350 (anchor) about 4-5ft no problem. Unfortnately, my motorhome is still stuck and didn't move at all, but the winch pulls great

Additionally, I tried to jack the rear diff with a 20ton hydraulic jack, it just kept sinking in the rain saturated mud no matter how many blocks I put under the jack.

I really didn't want to burn up my winch, so when ground dries up a bit, I'm calling a tow company to burn up their winch
