I've been looking for a winch and ran across the Recon. I like the looks (built in solenoid, looks line a Warn) but I dont know the quality of this winch. I wanted to see if anyone on this forum runs it. What do you guys think? It's seem like an unbelievable price, less that $450. Any info will be appreciated.

Prices seem to be coming down considerably. You can get other good brands in the same price range.
For example, I got an Engo E10000 for the same price and it also came with synth line. I believe the Smitty is in the same range.
The Engo was the best performer in a magazine (Four Wheeling, if my memory does not fail) and, as the Smitty and Recon, has very good reviews.
There are many threads about in this forum, even comparing the benefits of synth line vs. steel.

I've got one, awesome winch. It performs great too - I pulled my buddy out of a sand ditch while wheeling. We also hooked up a Warn winch to his other shackle to evenly pull him out and the Recon was just as strong and actually pulled a little faster than the Warn.
