Default "Recommended" rim size vs. MY rim size..

So i'm looking at moving up to 37"s before winter, but i want to keep my 16x8 Pro Comp rims. This has definitely narrowed my tire options, but i found 2 different tires from interco that i like. My first preference is their new TrXus MT (http://www.intercotire.com/tires.php?id=11&g=1), but my concern is that they recommend a 10" rim...for a 12.5" wide tire?? Any reason that i would have problems running that tire on my 8" rim? (I currently have 35x12.50's on them with no issues)

I guess my second question is why does this tire recommend only a 10" rim, but their SS-M16 tire (http://www.intercotire.com/tires.php?id=2&g=1)recommends anything from 8.5-11", and its a 13.5" wide tire?? I'm confused...or does it even matter?

Meh, I've seen guy's run 37's on the factory Moabs, so I don't think it would be a problem with a 12.5" tire.

I have the same size wheels and I'm planning on running the same tires that you listed first. I've seen plenty of 12.5 tires mounted on 8 inch wide wheels with no issues, but I would also be interested in knowing about 13.5's on an 8 inch wheel.

I run 12.50's on 7.5" stickers with no problems. I would go any narrower than that though

You will be absolutely fine running those tires on an 8" wide rim. Ideally a 10" wide rim is better because it reduces tire crowning, but you will have no issues running a lower psi than what they recommend.

What about the 13.5's?

I'd say you're pushing it with 13.5's on an 8" wheel. You are really going to get a lot of crowning in the center tread of the tire with that setup. I would go more along a 9-10" wheel range, possibly more.

You'll definitely be pushing it with 13.5's, but it can be done. You will experience a lot of crowning, but running a low psi will help with that. As with any setup, there are pros and cons:

Cons:
-tire will crown causing flighty steering/ uneven wear
-Crowning shortens tread life
-Low psi is terrible for mileage
-running lower psi also shortens tread life

Pros:
-you already have the rims
-poor mans beadlock (wide tire, narrow rim)
-massive sidewall will protect against rim damage
