I did say my PSI. Its 28 cold. Anything above that and its too stiff.

As far as rolling on E's I did a search for my size tire, Goodyear Silent Armor and found an auction on Ebay and they are listed as E rated. So it is certainly possible..

So I finally found it on the tire. It says "standard load" on the Silent Armor. What does that mean? Stiff, not stiff? What would that be close to in a load range? C, D, E?

Standard load is like an A or B I think, just like the stock duellers or g-sa's

Hmm, then I am at a loss. Could the very rough ride be from the weight of the steel wheels?

Steel wheels are lighter than Alloy Wheels. I also have the Goodyear Duratarc. Smooth and quiet ride and look awesome.

I'm not too sure about that. When I weighed the stock alloys and the steel wheels I have now in the smae size they were much heavier. Also everything I hav read says steel is heavier than alloy. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Well, here is what we know:

* Your complaint is a "too stiff" ride
* You run a light PSI at 28 lbs
* You don't have E rated tires
* You have made adjustments to your steering components (SS, links, rods, arms)
* You have some added weight (armor - skids, carrier and bumper)
* You are running 2 different kinds of shocks front and rear - and posted earlier that your Bilsteins are too stiff
* Typically, yes Steel wheels weigh more than Alloy

What I don't know:

* Are you lifted
* Have you swapped springs out

What does all this mean:

Not sure, but to me, you have made a lot of steering and suspension adjustments.......I'd guess you need softer shocks (or springs if you changed them). FWIW.

Jeepdawg,

I will try to provide my scenario as best I can.

I had a stock X with 17 inch stock alloys and Goodyear SRA stock tires. Rode fine.

I added a Shrockworks mid with. Had some sag in the front but still rode fine.

At about 12K switched to Procomp steel wheels and BFG stock mud terrains. Rode like crap.

Shook very bad over bumps, rough ride, ect..

All my balljoints went bad and needed replacement, as well as my steering box (the shaft had a lot of sideways play where it comes out of the box at the pitman arm). All these parts were replaced.

In an effort to fix the rough ride I added lower control arms from Teraflex and a RC steering stabilizer with no change.

I then at the recommendation of a local offroad shop I switched to springs off a Rubicon 2 DR, added 3/4 spacers to level the ride and switched to Bilstein HD shocks because they noticed you could bottom out the bump stops just by pulling the bumper down with your hand. This solved that issue but not the ride issue.

My ride was level now but still was pretty bad.

I then switched to the Goodyear Silent Armors and it was a little better still, but still would shake over bumps and rode rough.

Finally I switched to the Mopar steel wheels that had a backspacing much closer to stock. (The Procomps 4.25 and I think these are 5.25) and the ride was much better. At this time I also noticed my track bar holes were wallowed so I welded washers to them and replaced the stock track bars. Now I had no more wobble but still rode rough. Every crack/pavement change can be felt in the steering and bumps are very harsh however do not really shake the Jeep unless its a BAD pot hole.

I then added an HD tie rod and drag link with much beefier tie rod ends. Jeep again felt a little more solid but it still feels like my wheels are made of concrete when hitting potholes.

At this point I figured my Bilsteins might be too rough so I switched the to Edlebrock IAS shocks in the front (still waiting on rears to come in) this helped a little.

So thats where I am now. Alignment seems fine. Toe in is 1/8. Its just a very jarring ride and sometimes when I hit a potholes it sends vibes up through to the steering, however the steering wheel does not actually move.

Balljoints seem good (did the pry bar test).

Took the track bars off again and the washers have not wallowed so far.

Trackbars are tight (130 ft lbs.)

I do not see any cracks in the trackbar mounts.

I have never had death wobble (at least based on the descriptions of death wobble I have read.)

I am also not lifted besides the 3/4 spacers.

This whole time I have never gone above 17" inch wheel size or 255/75/17 tire size.

I am basically looking to get that soft stock ride back.

I wont take the JK on any long trips because it rides so rough,

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I am at 20K now.

Stock ride to me equals stock suspension. If you liked it, why not go back to stock springs and shocks? I'm amazed you had all the ball joint and trackbar issues at under 20000 miles....I would have let the dealer fix those....
