get a set of 15" wheels, and you can get anything you want in C load.

Im running 35x12.5x15 Goodyear MT/R's w/Kevlar C LOAD.

Before these I had 33x12.5x15 BFG A/T's also C load, they rode smoother than the stock Sahara duelers

They have one C rated that runs about 31.8" (a little smaller than the stock 32.06"), and one that runs 32.8" (D rated).

I love the BFG A/T KO, have a ton of miles on a set on my former TJ and they are still going strong, with a lot of tread left. They are also great on the snow and ice.

For the price, have you considered the stock Rubi tires (BFG M/T KM1s)? They really are fine on-road, are C rated, and about half the price of anything else decent you'll find. Only potential issue will be performance in hard pack snow and ice, but you could sipe them.
Will that size still fit on the wheels I am running my 255/75/17s on? Will it require alignment?

I do not want to buy new wheels so I need something that will fit what I have.

Also some people on here are saying the BFG AT are a smooth ride and some say rough? What ply sidewall are they..

I know you have the Mopar wheels, are they 7.5" or 8" wide (or even 9")? Regardless, either of the tires I mentioned would fit, but for the 285 you *might* have some rubbing issues, again depending on the offset of your wheels, my guess is you would be ok though if they are close to the stock 17" Moabs.

Off the top of my head I believe the BFG A/T KO is 3 ply sidewall, but you should research more if you're concerned. I thought they rode great on my TJ, can't speak for other's views as people themselves are a major variable in determining what is what when it comes to something subjective like ride. They never let me down, and I live in the snowbelt region so we get hammered with snow/ice all winter. I've never had them hydroplane either. They were just great on and off-road (wheeled them in Colorado, Arizona, and Moab).

I like the looks of the Duratrac as well and the reviews have been strong so far, but it is a new tire and personally I prefer to have a tire prove itself over the long haul before buying in. Tires performance can change significantly after the first 10K miles.

Thanks pearl man. I think the backspacing on those Mopar wheels is 5.65 but Im not positive.

I agree I would rather have a proven tire as well and I do not need anything near as aggressive as the Duratracs although, they are nice.

Right now when I hit a bump it is stiff as hell with these tires. It feels like they are made out of solid concrete. Nowhere near as soft as the stock GY SRAs were.

You mention there was a smaller size BFG AT that would fit and then one size bigger as well. Would I have rubbing issues with the smaller size?

Also do I need an alignment if I change sizes like that?

Yeah that's the problem they are so stiff I have to run them that low. My truck is light it's a 2dr softop and these tires are E rated and the sidewall I think is something like 8 ply.

On a side note I have run procomp A/T's, and WAS a BFG A/T supporter until I bought the Duratracs. They are so agressive yet offer a nice ride with little to no hwy noise. And if you deal with witer conditions the fact that they are pinned for studs and having that option is real nice, I didnt stud mine last year and I never had a problem on ice or snow. I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee and I was plowing snow over the hood
