rear U-Joint #2
so rear u joint, on driveline blew again, same one that was replaced in October.
What do you think could be the problem for this? I think its the angle.. but was looked at tonight, and he thought it wasn't off at all, but finds it weird I had to replace it a few months ago, and only 10,000 miles ago.
So getting the king of joints, hopefully soon, and if that breaks, there is something seriously wrong with the dang jk.

Some ideas...
1) Buy spicer or non-greasable ones. (esp the one you are going to replace) Dont by federal mogul or some other brand (unless you hear of tried and true ones from other 4 wheelers)
2) Make sure your driveshaft angle is not too extreme with the transfercase or pinion. If it is not that extreme then this is most likely not the problem if you have no vibrations.
3) If you are running u-bolt style retainers on your u joint you must NOT overtighten these nuts. These are holding down the bearing housings and too tight could cause premature wear!!! They do not need to be tight at all, you would be surprised. find the torque specs and tighten them to torque spects and that is all. Use loctite on these nuts to keep them from coming off.
Otherwise you should be cool and good to go.

well after the u joint went out again that may (2009), only two months later, it blew up my slip yoke, after a weekend of wheeling at reiter.
ya was keeping it greased and wasn't wheeling it when it went out.
The simple solution we did, was replace the JK slip yoke, with a older, and stronger, YJ slip yoke, and it been running like a champ since then. NO problems with the U joint going out since then either!
hope someone else finds that useful!
