Rear Track Bar Question

Rear Track Bar Question
I have been trying to improve the ride on my JK Unlimited. 3" Teraflex lift - lower adjustable control arms, caster 6.8*, Toe .11*
Took it somewhere to look at it and I have a worn drag link end. Also I do not have an adjustable rear track bar so my rear axle is off a 1/2".
I'm definitely going to replace the drag link but was wondering what or if any improvement I would see by adding an adjustable rear track bar.
Thanks
Tim

centering the rear axle wont really make a difference in handling, but it will keep your jeep from "crabbing" when going down the road. You can also use a axle side trackbar bracket in the rear to compensate for the lift and improve your geometry a bit.
I purchased adj trackbars when I ordered my lift, but the teraflex kit came with the bracket, which I ended up using because it is substantially more beefy than the stock trackbar bracket. I'll be taking it off soon to simplify things in the rear so it will be for sale soon if you want it.

Wont crabbing equal bad tire wear and even worse mpgsss? How do you check to see if its off? All my shops around my area say they don't have a way to align or check for the rear axel being out of whack

you check by holding a level from the outside of the tire and measuring to a stationary point on both sides of the jeep. I dont have rear fender liners so I just measure from the outside of the tire to the tub. That will give you an idea of how far off center the axle is.
I can see it causing slightly irregular tire wear if the axle is deflected forward or backward on either side, but it seems unlikely. I also dont think it would have an effect on gas mileage
Tim, if you feel as if the rear is wandering a bit, check to ensure the track bar bolts are nice and tight, and make sure the bracket holes are not wallowed out. That would cause the rear axle to shift side to side causing goofy handling.
