If the spare touches the bumper I think you would be worse off. Any bumps would jar the mount potentially cracking welds. It should only touch the mount and the stand offs.

My rear gate warped a bit what is scary is the mount it self started to crack and the studs were all loose. I wasn't for from losing it on the road thats after 1.5 years. Had to haul the tire in the back until I got my tire carrier

Doesn't rest on the bumper, there is actually the slightest gap between tire and bumper.

Now I know why they say to not go higher than 4.5 -4.75 Back Space. I went with 5 and that .25 inch is what is holding me up from using the stock carrier. Im either going to remove the whole thing and keep the rear clean by adding a Vector UFO, or buy the ******* Suspension Spare Tire Relocation Bracket.
I just need it to hold up long enough for me to buy the new bumpers with the tire carrier.
