Default Rear headrest removal

How do you take the rear headrests off? I'm installing my trek armor seat covers in my 2013 unlimited rubicon and the rear headrest have me stumped.

I had to consult YouTube when I installed my trek armor. I have since forgotten how. Recommend looking at YouTube. I know there is a clip.

Also recommend leaving plenty of slack on the center seatbelt when you reconnect. I didn't leave enough slack and it locked up on me. Had to unbolt the belt to get it to spool out again.

Good luck.

Press both notches at once (one at the base of each pillar). Then simultaneously lift both pillars out. If you have to force you're doing it wrong, so stop and look before you tear out the headrest.

Thanks. I'll start back up tomorrow.

2013 rear headrests are different than the video. I'm lost again. No notches at all.

My description above is on a 2011 2door. I think the 2012 is the same, but the unlimited might be different

Yes I have a 4 door. I just need to pop the headrest off to put the seat cover on. I don't want to remove it permanently. My 2010 unlimited has a different type of rear headrest assembly. It's my 2013 unlimited that is the problem.

Ok I emailed Mitch at trek armor late last night and when I got up this morning, he had already responded with pics and instructions. Seat covers are on now and fit perfect. If you are looking for seat covers, go with trek armor. Excellent quality, fit, and worth every penny! And Mitch's customer service and people skills are outstanding! You won't regret it.

X2 on trek armor seat covers and working with Mitch. I had a good experience working with Mitch and I love the seat covers.
