Mostly blab. I considered posting a picture, but after the BFH treatment it pretty much looks like a regular diff with some paint off the bottom edge. Did discover last night I also took off part of a bolt edge, so getting a socket on it is interesting.

I'll see if I can get a decent close up later tonight. Didn't think far enough in advance to get a pic of the diff cover in its pealed-back form. Felt fortunate enough just to have good pictures of the event happening!

Yup, this happened to two of my fellow co-workers with new Rubicons in Moab over Memorial Day weekend. I'm the only one who didn't snag the diff cover and I'm the only auto mechanic out of the 3 of us, so guess who was re-sealing diff covers in the gas station parking lot?

OK. I enjoy carnage as much as the next guy. This isn't in the "severe" category, but it's making me want those Riddler's on real quick! Also, just checked with the place I ordered my 513's - still "a couple of weeks" (endless, isn't it?). This picture is after mashing the peal back with a BFH and a chunk of steel.

Out of curiosity, how do you re-seal a diff cover in the parking lot? The usual (drain, remove, straighten, clean off old seal, smear on new seal, replace, wait for cure, wait some more, ah - screw it good enough, refill)?? Or is there a gas station parking lot short cut for a quick seal? Don't think I'll care once the Riddler's are on, but I may have to fix someone else's.

and sooo nice

Edit:

Note the oil on the pavement.
Just a bump to the seal can make a leak on the stock covers.

Cool If I were gonna be draggin' my arse across the rocks again I'd go ahead with the new covers.
