Default Rear Diff Pealed like an Apple

Did the Crown King Back Road on Labor Day and did a little customization of the rear diff cover. Here's a couple of pictures of the rock that got me...

Not much of a rock, but enough to catch the rear diff cover and peal it back a bit. Did not leak until it sat in the garage a couple of days.

I fixed the leak with a BFH, but here's the kicker - I have two freshly-painted Riddler's ready to be installed. Just waiting on the 513 gears to arrive.

Here's the question: should I wait for the gears and do it once, or go for the new covers now since they are ready to rock (literally). I have my opinion, but I'd like to see yours!

as loong as its not bad you reuse it for the time being

when I had my tranny rebuilt in my ranger the shop asked if I wanted to pay for fuild change on my tcase I told them I was not paying them to do something I can do was then told that they would put the old fuild back in

I see nothing wrong with it as long as the fluid is clean

Sorry hombres, I'm a pretty frugal guy for the most part but I just could never bring myself to putting any type of used fluid back into a vehicle.

You do realize its the same oil that was already in there...and its merely the same thing as using the oil you were already using?

IE:

I have a diff with oil in it...I'm going to drive 15K miles with it...and, at 7.5K miles, I pour it out, look at it, it looks fine, and I put it back in...and let it go the other 7.5K miles it would have if I had not looked at it.

OK, what is wrong with that picture?

BTW - it bothers me too, so I just change it typically...I have a lot of jugs of the stuff laying around.

The question is would you rechew gum after you had it out of your mouth for a couple days? Hopefully point taken.
