Rear Bottoming Out over Bumps
#13
Problem found and working on resolution
Thanks to everyone's help on the issue. After bottoming out for a couple of days I crawled under the jeep to take a better look at what really is hitting. And you nailed it....it was the bolt from the frame side trackbar mount hitting the 3" metal bumpstop extention. So here's my plan. First I'm going to turn the trackbar bolt around so the nut and threads stick out the back and give me maybe a 1/2" more room. Then I'm going to shorten my rear upper control arms about 1/2" on both sides to rotate the axle forward again and move the bumpstops forward, away from the trackbar and spring. At this point the rear axle shaft is almost exactly inline with rear differential angle so by shortening the rear upper control arms I should get some angle back in the driveshaft. My hope is to shorten them about 1/2" (just guessing) which should give me a little angle back 2%, and pull the bumpstop extensions on the axle forward and away from the trackbar bolt. Win Win! That should be just enough room to clear and stop the bolt from hitting and bottoming out but if not, the last resort is to cut the 3" metal bumpstop extension at an angle to give some room for the trackbar bolt head to miss.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions which led me in the right direction. And the best part.....it shouldn't cost me a dime!

Right on man.
Should be your frame-side trackbar bolt but I'm assuming you just mis-typed it....
I've got rear MetalCloak rubber bump stops and ended up notching one as well.

Sorry...You are right FRAME side trackbar bolt. I got a little too excited!
