Rear 30sp axle shafts
Help me out with rear shafts. Depending on where I look, I am finding different stats for the same shafts, various alloy types, various dual bolt patterns, various warranty lengths, etc.
Metal used: 4140 or 4430 chromoly, high manganese 1541H, or a generic "high tensile alloy steels".
Alloy USA - 4140 or 4340
Ten Factory - 1541H or 4140
G2 - 1541 or 4140
Nitro - 4130
Yukon - 1541H or ?
I wanted a dual 5/5.5 pattern just in case I ever go to front manual hubs. For the same part numbers, I am finding some sites showing a single 5x5 pattern, while others show them as dual drilled for 4.5/5 or 5/5.5, and even saw one 4.5/5.5, which are still listed as JK shafts. (And it looks like Yukons are triple drilled? But they are not cut to length?)
I was looking at G2's because of the $295 price, but can't confirm a dual bolt pattern or the metal used. Looks like I can get Ten Factory for around $350 (price drop recently? Thought those were higher), but again 1541H or 4140 and can't confirm bolt pattern. Alloy USA $360, 4140 or 4340. Nitro $450 and only 4130 is listed. Yukon $340ish plus cutting and assembly?
Warranties vary also, but most seem to be 10 year, and may or may not cover bent flanges?
Anyway, for those who have looked into it, point me in the right direction.

IMO high maganese is a very slight improvement over stock. Go Chromolly 4340 its about 35 to 40% stronger than stock depending on the material quality. Id say the difference between the chromolly grades wont be to noticable. 4340 i believe is able to be hardened a little better than the alloy 4140 but there damn close strength wise. Id personally go moser rear axle shafts, if i had to buy again. My ten factorys are holding up fine though. if they dont have the option you need id go with the best warranty.

Thanks for the input guys. Dave, given the literature that Ten Factory supplies on their website, (as well as a phone call that left us more confused than when we started), how would I know that I actually received 4140 instead of 1541H? My understanding is that even 'if' it is stamped somewhere, it will be covered by the black coating.

These are tougher than stock axle shafts, forged from 1541H High Manganese Alloy

M300 Alloy is stronger than the alloys mentioned in the thread. RCV makes M300 axles ($$$$), Summer Brothers Racing also makes M300 Alloy axles, but I don't know the costs on them.
