I get 14.5-15.5 MPG with 35’s and an automatic transmission and 4.88 gears. I think it is an acceptable MPG. Before I changed the gears it was much worse.

I'm similar....14-16.5 mpg, unlimited auto with 35's, 5.13's, superchip, CAI, and exhaust.

12-14 mpg pre gears with O/D off.

Based on what the OP is saying, I would look for something that measures out around a 35" tire. Check some 35s, maybe a 315/70R17.
My 315/70 R 17 GY Duratracs measured right at 33.5"

See I have a 6 speed w the mountain edition gears, I'm trying to figure out the weight diff between a 35 inch nitto trail grappler and the 33 inch open country hoping since the toyo is such a heavy tire the weight increase won't be too too bad, I read a gear change in a standard doesn't effect mileage much so it may not be worth it, insight?

I did a litle research on weight of most popular 37'' tires

Type______________Size_____________Weight___Load Range__Price(each)
Irok Radial_________37x12.5 R17_________81_______E_________400
Interco SSR________37x12.5 R17_________90_______D_________385
BF Krawler_________37x12.5 R17_________87_______C_________485
BF Mud KM2________37x12.5 R17_________72_______D_________390
MTR Kevlar_________37x12.5 R17________74________D________385
Toyo Open Country__37x13.5 R17________93________E_________420
Nitto Mud Grappler___37x13.5 R17________90________E_________420
ProComp Xterrain____37x12.5 R17________83_______D_________380
ProComp Xtreme Mud_37x12.5 R17________83_______D_________390
Mickey MTZ_________37x12.5 R17________83_______D_________435

I was not sure about the KM2, some sites say 71 to 73 lbs

Toyos and Mud grappler are the heaviest, since they are 13.5 wide

I run the Toyo 35 m/t with 5.13 gears and I get 12-13mpg. I think the rotating mass of these heavy tires is killer

i found somewhere saying that the 35" Trail Grappler was 79 lbs and the Toyo open country 33.5" was 86 lbs...i would think at a 7 lb difference per tire, I shouldn't see much of any of a diff in mileage changing to the 35?
