Default re-gearing questions (3.21 to 4.10 or 4.56)

I have a 2013 Sahara 2 door auto with 3.21 gears. Got dana 30 front dana 44 rear. TF 1.5" leveling kit and rancho shocks. My 32s are OK but I feel I can get extra power and plan to eventually go to 33s.

I am considering a 3.21 to 4.10 or 4.56, as well as throwing in a detroit truetrac in the rear.
My questions are this:

1. will I need a new carrier for the front or the rear? (I think I need just the front)
2. do I need to buy a "kit" or can I just buy the gears? i.e. can I buy this or do I need this ?
3. How will this affect my mileage? will I need to buy a procal to fix any thing?
4. What am I looking at for labor cost? I would guess like 5-6 hours?

Do you plan on wheeling it?
33" Tires: 4.56 - 4.88
35" Tires: 4.88 - 5.13

1. You'll need a new carrier for the front.
2. You'll need the gears and master install kits (bearing, shims, bolts, etc..)
3. Usually you're mpg will drop a few. ProCal for tire size and also will be able to adjust your shifting.
4. $500-$600 per axle

I was going to email you about this, but this works too.

I have found that if you want 4.10's (I do) you are going to spend about double. I got a quote from Northridge 4X4 for install of gears and with 4.56 it was $1000 and with 4.10's about $2000. Seems 4.10's are only available from the factory not aftermarket.

4.10's with the new automatic and 3.6L seem perfect for 35" and under.

I've read that in a few places too.
I'm leaning towards 4.56s. Based on this chart, 4.56 is optimal for 32s, 33s and good for 35s as well. Those are likely the only three combos I would run ever.
Eric at Offroad elements has given me a good price for parts, now I just need to get a good quote for install.

Remember those charts are based on true tire size. Your 33's are going to sit 32" mounted. Do you really want to be turning 2800 rpms at 70 mph? Sure you'll have power, but you're MPG will go down after that regear if you do highway a lot. That's a lot of gear for a daily driver in my opinion. I'm running 35's and not sure I'm even going 4.56, may just go 4.10.

I would get the 33's and see how it is before you spend all the money for a regear.

hmm that's a good point. considering the fact that it's a daily driver, maybe I should consider 4.10 or 3.73. Though I'm not sure gearing to 3.73 would be worth the cost. I'm just worried about the heightened cost of 4.10 (if that's even true)

I was quoted the same price shipped for 4.10 or 4.56 from Marcus at River City Offroad. Shoot him a pm. To be honest, I don't think regearing to anything would be worth the cost with the 3.6L until you go bigger than 33's. Just my 2 cents. 3.73's would probably be ideal. I wish i would have goten them stock, but we can't all make smart choices .

I'd get the 33's and a procal and go from there. You might not even feel much difference. Or do the regear and just skip straight to 35's

Evidently I make a ton of dumb ones. I was very hasty with my Jeep purchase, and although I'm happy with it, there are a lot of things on it I don't care about and there are things it doesn't have which I wish it had (3.73s, for example) and could have easily gotten from the factory.

I'll take a look at 4.10s and 3.73s as options too. Thanks.

4.56 is not optimal for 32's or 33's.....I have a 2012 auto ,on 33's and 4.56...it feels like a ferrari around town but on the highway just like someone else said 2800rpm at 70 is a bear.......go with 4.56 and put 35's on instead (perfect set up ).
