Re gearing for 285/75/17 tires
I am doing some research on upgrading my tires and I would love to get 35 inch tires but it is not in my budget at the moment. I wanna know do you need to re gear if you put on 285/75/17 tires? I like how tall these tires are.

I just put Toyo A/T II 285/75/17 on stock 7.5" rims. The tires are labeled as 34x11.3 on the sticker conversion. At 32 PSI, the are 33" tall on the tape. They ride good and are as smooth as all terrains can be considering their tread. I have a 2012 JKU running stock 3.21 gears on an auto. I live in Fl, and this is my dd. I have been running these for 1 week. I'm sure more power is to be had regearing, but the unit is fine for how I intend to use it. If I lived in the mountains, I can see where there would be a need.

I've been running 285/75/17 Toyo At2s in my 09 with 373 gears for over a year. I run about 32 psi. They ride and wear great. I don't feel a need to re - gear just push the right pedal a bit more. Plenty of power in 4 low.

Regear for the 35's you will end up with, not for the 33's.
Plug the numbers into the chart in the faq's to help you decide if you want to go ahead and regear now (and run it at higher rpms until the 33's wear out), or wait until you get the 35's..

It's your jeep, you can run 40's with stock gears if you want to.
You will get several different opinions on whether 'you' will want/need to regear, but none of us are you. My opinion, it's only an inch taller than the stock 32's, you won't even notice the difference, and ceertainly not enough difference to justify the cost of new gears. But, go to the chart mentioned above and plug the numbers in to see where you will end up with various tire sizes, then flip a coin.
