x2, it takes time and skill... (experience is key) I hear nightmare stories just having an inexperienced installer attempting to crush the crush sleeves. You have to get the gears to mesh perfectly or you are going to have a whiny mess that will fail in no time.

so my 4.88s arrived today and i called my local gear shop who work on my ford f350/450's to get a gear install quote. 10hrs!!!!??? @ 95/hr????!!!! monkey balls 950.00+tax. I'm up over 1000.00 for a gear install??? sound truthful to you guys? or is this guy giving a reach around b/c i didn't buy his gears?

Rears and Gears in Port Kells was who i went to. i heard from lots of people they're the best for diff work.
No i don't plan on doing any lockers, umm possibly a rear eaton e-locker ( other 1k )..... we will see after i get back from work.
my gears were from a local 4x4 shop in chilliwack.

Yep, there was a guy on Craigslist out here advertising to do gear swaps for $900 including parts. No mention of warranty. But for another $600, there's a local BBB accredited established shop with a one year warranty on parts & labor. Kind of a no brainer.
