I think Northridge is $1000 for a complete regear.

Default Around here there are back yard mechanics who are pretty good.

There sould be places that can do it cheaper. Those rates are shop rates. Ask around or put an ad in the wanted listings. There should be guys willing to do it for around $400 you paying for the gears oil etc. Some guys work by day at the shops and in the evenings at home. If you go this route I'd be asking a few questions first before just accepting him for thr job. Work experience etc.

X2. My Friend that's a tech offered to do it "after hours" for cheap. However, I'd pick very wisely because you can kiss any type of warranty out the door.

Where is he located? And is it a nice shop or a hole in the wall type place?

I got mine done at Northridge for $1000 parts and labor, but that was a super good deal. 1000 in labor is going to be your typical bid.

Do most people take there JKs to a shop to regear even if they normally do most of all the other work/mods themselves? I am planning to regear my 2010 JKUR in the near future and was planning on doing it myself; it can't be that difficult...right?

He is located in dingmans ferry pa. He has a regular shop with his 'specialty' stuff in the back. He has a speed shop, drag races regularly and has been rebuilding rears for over 25 years. They also have a dyno.
