i live in a pretty flat area by the beach and use my 07JKUX as my DD and when the weather is right, i try to go wheelin at least one a month. from what i understand, stock 07 JKUX's came with 3.21 gears. is that what i have-i dont know. i have to jack the jeep up and spin the tires to find out. the previous owner did put bigger tires on but i dont know if they re-geared as well so it may be 3.73.

if my gearing is 3.73 do i need to regear for 35's if using as DD in a flat area? or will that be able to support 35's? the jeep is a Manual as well.

any help would be great

You can register on the jeep website to get your build sheet, that'll give you what you had stock.

Otherwise, 35's on 3.21's with an unlimited will be pretty doggy. If you're not wheeling hard your drivetrain should handle it for a while, but you'll see more wear than normal.

Plenty of people have done it, you can find a ton of stuff on here. GL.

My guess is that the PO wouldn't re-gear to 3.73 from 3.21, unless he ordered it that way. 1000-1300 to get such a minimal change -- most wouldn't.

I vote do it, drive it, and find out for yourself if you need a re-gear

35's on 321 gears is going to be sluggish, but your right some people do it. If your plan on regearing to run 35"s IMO I would go with atleast 411's. Just my

No reputable shop would let you go from 3.21 to 3.73, most shops will push you to go to 4.88.

I say get the 35's if you want them and then decide if its time to regear.

thanks for the great insight. and i think your right. 4.11 or 4.88 would probably be the (right) way to go. i wonder how much thats going to impact MPG.

2007 unlimited 35's &4.88's 16.5 mpg around town, 17-18 on highway. Flat land Indiana.

I am going to second this. I am running a 2dr, 3.73's and 35s and I absolutely hate it. I have spent money in other places when I should have
gone ahead and put 4.56 or 4.88's in. I would not do the 4.11's. I plan on getting gears this summer (time to save), since I have decided to keep this
jeep. It will really help the MPG's and the premature wear on the clutch.
