I'm in the same boat you are. Now I am an hr away from the dealership and debating if I should call them up and bitch or what. If I call to tell them I would expect them to pay for my gas down there to fix.

If u have te right size wrenches...it's easy enough to do yourself...it's not just that bolt either I guarantee its because your carrier isn't adjusted properly...it should be recessed in the receiver fully coming in contact w the tailgate before the tailgate is closed so it can't move around at all in the receiver

That is the issue.... I don't have many tools. But I might see if a local tire and wheel shop can help me out.

Default Aev

is this the one that's like $100 something on ebay and has the 2 metal bars?

If it is, I had it for all of 10 minutes, then went with the terra flex one....

My JK came to me with 35s and the tailgate rattled.

this product did not fix it.

the TerraFlex one did.

yes... at 4x the cost :(

but I can carry my 35 now with NO issues.

No, The aev carrier is 800 bucks and can be used interchangeably with most offroad bumpers as well as the stick rear bumper like me

Ok is I have figured out the the spare might be the cause if the rattle when the tailgate is shut. What might be some solutions? Tighten the top bolt?

When I shut my tailgate there is a slight rattle. I think it is my spare tire since I can move it a little. Didn't know if anyone had a possible solution. I know the original poster said the tension rod bolt needs to be from bottom up so it can be tighten properly as mine is reverse but I don't think that is the cause. There are 2 bolts holding the spare on. One from the back large bolt and a smaller bolt on top. Do those need to be tighten or is there another issue causing the rattle based on your past experiences.

If you can move your spare tire than you were just a puss when you torqued the lugs down and need to tighten them
