Ok- I'm just about ready to buy a winch... But my question is regarding the winch plate - is the purpose of the winch plate simply to mount the fair lead on? Or is the plate needed to add strength to the bumper when under a load. The bumper already has holes. Can I just mount directly to it and use one of these?

Another thought.. Has anyone with this bumper mounted the winch inside instead of above the bumper? It fits between the frame rails, so that shouldn't be a problem.. Just wondering where abouts, the fair lead would be, and if it would interfere with the rancho lettering
