That's sad Rancho used to be the name to trust in offroad shocks. Purchased many a RS5000 back in the day. I was considering some 9000xl's but i guess i will go with a Fox, King, or Radflo instead. I actually have had great success with the Pro Comp resevoir shocks also althought they are starting to get as pricey as the racing name brands.

Guys this is common with other shocks as well.

I recently watched a vid on youtube. I believe it was a OME lift install. The guy showed how you have to spread the mounts a bit.

The bigger problem is cutting the strap before mounting the shock .... Then finding out they don't fit lol

Spread the mounts a bit. Leave strap on. Bolt up to the top. Cut strap and guide shock to mount. Bolt lower and done.

19:20 http://youtu.be/FwY0yjWfBok Explains and used a adjustable wrench to spread the mounts

. I think it has to do more with the shocks coming off and how much pinch on the mount.

I have RS9000XLs. One came dented in the sealed and undamaged box. Had it replaced. Otherwise installation was non-eventful, easy as could be. Fantastic ride and handling.

What part number shocks did you end up with? Rancho makes shocks for all different vehicles and you might have gotten a shock meant for something other than a JK. I would hate to think Rancho is mismatching parts assemblies at the factory.

With 4" Sport Lift I have RS999329 in front and RS999330 in rear.

Everybody has an opinion on what to go with. I personally (and friends) never had an issue with Rancho shocks! I have the XL9000 with the 3'' sport lift. That is my .02 cents!

This right here!
If there any issues call at 734-384-7804 or PM me!
Often times the stock shocks are just "zipped" on there at the factory.

Big Dr, just get the skid pan.

I have the Rancho 4" Sport Lift with 9000 shocks and haven't had any problems at all. Been very pleased with the ride also. No complaints here at all.

had a set of the xl9000s sitting around for a few months and just threw them on a couple of weekends ago before heading to the NC mountains.

install was super easy. no fitment issues at all. ride and adjustability is awesome! had them on for about 1500 miles now with no complaints.
