Default Ranchero Oil Pan Skid - glued on (WTF)?????

I ordered a Ranchero Oil Pan Skid, from the photos it looked like you removed every second bolt on the oil pan - I can understand that, but when it arrived it was to be glued on yeah a strong glue I bet and left on jack stand to cure overnight.

My question is has anyone had experience with this skid, I'm about to send it back, but if it works and stays on maybe not. or is there another oil pan skid that works better?

it's actually a silicon adhesive that is used and, for all the people i know that have this skid, not me or they have been able to knock it off.

Its a high temp silicone, aint coming off. It fits on the oil pan fairly tight.

I have it, its been installed since April. I have wheeled 10-12 times hard since I installed it. It is still there. I have hit it several times leaving scrape marks in the metal. No problems. Be bery careful when u install that you prep service very good. I used simple green, water, and alcohol in that order. I took a good 30 minutes to properly clean it and prep surface. I think the people who have ahd problems didnt proply prepare oil pan surface for adhesive. Make sure u use a cotton rag and not paper towels to clean since paper towels will leave dusty paper residue. I used an old undershirt.

Mine fell off. So I put it back on with JB Weld and added safety wire. That was a couple years ago and haven't had a problem since. I probably didn't clean the oil pan well enough before initial install. Fortunately, it was on a dirt road at low speed, and I noticed it during my return a while later.

Wow...you would think they would have some sort of safety bolt in addition to the glue....can you imagine the destruction that could cause to your own vehicle, or a vehicle behind you, if it came off at highway speeds?

Holy liability batman!!
