And so you haven't explained to her that while new latches will help in MOST conditions, the only real fix to prevent the hood from breaking free and flying off the Jeep, possibly leading to a very serious accident, is to replace the stock front bumper and that ineffective air dam with [insert your choice of aftermarket product]? (Not really, of course, but let's just keep that between you and me--she doesn't read this forum, does she?).

Does that metal wire touch the paint? My concern would be that over time if it flaps on the paint it could be good place for rust to start.

I am not familiar with Rampage either but I have lockable hoodlatches on my TJ and these on my JK. I really like them and they are fully adjustable so you can tighten your bonnet as much as you want.

Upps the wire is covered in a plastic tube which will prevent the paintwork from being damaged.

Here is a picture of the latch from the quadratec website. And yes I told her it could cause a very serious accident. haha Thats how I got my winch I told her god forbid my son is in the car and I get stuck, we would be stranded. A few weeks later I had a winch.

Bump. Does anybody use these? Hood flutter is one thing but my deal is security... Are these any good as far as the locking feature?

ah yes, I love my Rampage locking hold downs. I've always been very surprised not more people use these. Look good, lock, and adj tension. These hold the hood very snug and the locks work perfect. Absolutely no flutter what so ever in the hood any more. Highly recommend! Edit: you can see how tight I have mine set by the tight fender to hood line

Have them on both JK Rubis and love them! It will stop the hood wobble!
