I love your Thule rack!

After all this, I am now thinking of the Gobi. Anyone know the best place to buy one? Ultimately I want a soft top on all summer, so it's down to Gobi or Garvin for me.

Default Congo Cage

Hi I just bought the Kargo Master Congo Cage . I plan on hauling two Kayaks so didnt want to risk my hard top ( 2008 two door ) . The congo cage can handle 500 lbs. and mounts to the windshield brackets
and frame down by the bumper ( no drilling required ,unless you want to add two extra bolts for added support ) cost around 450.00 . Putting it on this weekend so I'll let ya know how it goes !

Thanks, I placed my order today! Sooo excited. Can't wait to get my kayak in the water, not having a rack on my jeep has been a real bummer.

Mine is supposed to ship this week. I'll post some pics when I get it together.

Very nice! Love the yellow JK too. How do you like the Falken tires?

Allows a vertically challenged person (like me) to load a 13 footer by myself. You can't see it in the pics, but the rack doesn't interfere with my Spiderwebshade. Here's a few pics. . .
Nice "RACK"

Just purchased a four door JK (Sahara hardtop) and am shopping for a rack to carry kayaks. I came across the "Lange Rack" on-line, and I like the design. Anyone have any experience with those? I like the idea of mounting to the windshield bracket in front, spare tire in the rear. Drilling through the hardtop not required.

Seems pricey, but might be a good solution. I see several options presented in this thread - how do they compare?

Who knows? Would apreciate any advice!

Many thanks,
GDS

I had a Thule rack that attaches to the rain gutters; used it on my previous Cherokee.
I attached it to the rain gutters of the JKU and threw a 'yak on top. I had it cinched with staps at the bow and stern. The bow line went through the loop on the hood and the stern strap went through the spare tire. I didn't have to strap the 'yak to the cross-bars at all. Went through strong cross winds and it didn't even budge.
I've also had an 8' pram on the same rack, with the same result (although it was cinched to the cross bars, too).
Saved myself the purchase of a much stronger rack, and it seems to meet my needs.

Wouldn't work for a spare tire or really heavy gear, but that's not in my future.
