Default Questions on lifting my Jeep!!!!

Alright i am looking for some advise. All and any will be greatly appreciated!!!! I am looking at getting a lift kit for my '09 Unlimited Rubicon. I have pretty much decided on a Teraflex lift kit. Now that i have decided on that, which was hard enough, the number of lift kits that Teraflex offers is almost as hard to decide on.
The Jeep is not my daily driver but I find myself driving it more and more so it may someday become my every day vehicle, so i need to take that into account. I want to put 35" KM2's on the Jeep and have decided on the Pro Comp 7189's(17 x 9) wheels.
Besides being my daily driver i also plan on wheelin it too. Can't wait to get over to Rausch Creek once the lift gets put on.
Also along with buying the lift kit, what other parts or changes do I need to make to the Jeep? Like will I need to buy spacers for the wheels? Do the driveshafts need to be changed? etc..etc...etc...Since I have an auto I do plan to regear. Should I go with 4.88 or 5.13??
Also, would like to spend no more than 3,000 on lift, wheels, and tires. Is this possible!!!!

once again thanks

You left out the most important number, what size lift are you going with.

You shouldn't need spacers if you get the correct backspacing when you order them.
If you regear I would go with 4.88s, I think 5.13s are too tall for a 35" tire.

Well if you're set on Teraflex and to keep under budget, you can go with the 2-1/2" coil lift w/shocks for $600, or 2-1/2 coil lift w/shock adapters for $439 and add in JKS front and rear trackbars for $280. And just for a little peace of mind, you could add the rear trackbar brace for another $50.
No spacers are needed since you wont be using the factory wheels.
That leaves a little over $2,000 to get your set of 5 wheels and tires.

i went with the TF 2.5 coil, it gives you almost 3 inches which is good, come spring i will put some new wheels and 35's on.

http://www.northridge4x4.com/proddet...d=TF-001251200

That is a link to the Teraflex 3" lift. $830

I also have an 09 Rubi unlimited. This is the lift I plan on ordering shortly.
Dave at Northridge is great. Give him a call and he will talk you through what you need and answer any questions you might have.

You won't need spacers for your wheels because you aren't going with stock wheels. Just make sure the back spacing is 3.75-4.5 inches.

With a 3" lift you will need to change the front driveshaft if you disconnect your sway bars offroad. You will tear the boot on the front driveshaft if you don't. You won't need to get a new driveshaft right away, even if you tear the boot you can run with it like that for a while and get a driveshaft down the road if you can't afford it right now.

Being that you have an auto I think you would be happier with 5.13. If you do a search about gearing, most people with auto like the 5.13 after they get 35 or larger tires. Of course there are some people with a manual trans and 35's and say the stock 4.10's are fine. It's really going to come down to preference.

I think it's possible for you to stay under the $3000 mark. You just need to start searching the web and finding and deals that are going on and start adding the prices up for what you want to get.

Good luck and keep us updated and post some pics after you start getting things added on.

I went with the 3.5 from skyjacker, very easy to install enough flex, and enough space for 35 tires. I got it for 500 and something, w/steering stabilizer, shocks, coils, and everything that you need.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the front of the TF 2.5 coil lift gives 3.1" of lift while the rear is 2.1" or so. They did it this way to help with the factory rake.

I had the same kit and was very pleased with its performance. I will be going with their long arm kit on my next JK.

Default more questions--i apologize in advance!!!

The 3" lift for around $800 that Choppus linked to from Northridge has been the one i've been leaning towards. But I see other 3" Teraflex kits that cost more money and I automatically think that they have to be a better lift. I know these ones are out of the price range that I talked about earlier... but what is the benefit of the 3" lift that offers the flexarm kit or the one that offers the full flexarm kit with it. Here's a link to what I'm talking about http://www.teraflex.biz/products/jk-...th-shocks.html How does this enhance the lift/jeep? I guess my question is what do the flexarms do? sorry if these questions are simple and stupid just tryin to get edubicated so i can make a decision.

I checked the backspacing on the pro comp 7189's and for the 17x9 wheels the backspacing is 4.75"--spacer then needed yes or no? The backspacing on the 17x8 is 4.5"--no spacer needed. What are the pro's and cons between the 17x9 vs 17x8? or are there any?

And this may be a really stupid question...but after i get the lift on am I still going to be able to use the e-disconnect for the front sway bar?

With a wider rim you can use a wider tire. If you go with a 35x12.5 an 8" wheel will work fine with that backspacing and will save you a couple bucks.

You won't need driveshafts with a 3" lift.
