The rear's plenty strong at 30 spline. I might upgrade the rear to 32 spline in a couple years.

The rear rubicon axle is 32 Spline, Locked, and bolts in.
Its also 1300 bucks. That is dirt cheap considering an ARB, pump, and larger spline shafts will run more then that.
I know that regearing would cost another 500-600 bucks for the one axle but it could be an option for some.
In your situation adding a detroit and calling it done would be the cheapest route and would still be

I don't think pigina is attempting to make a Rubiclone. Looks like he's on his way towards one helluva offroad rig.
I just want axles that are less likely to break from an offroading mishap... Dana 44's are stronger...

Please, get off the rubicon high horse. If I wanted a Ruby I would have bought one.
that sums it up well.

truthfully, if you add the factory lockers, factory axles, factory disconnects, and factory tranfer - it it really a rubiclone? Seems like it would be a rubicon. It is not like these things are "born"...they are "built" at the factory too. As far as i am concerned, do what you want and have fun with it.

What's up with the "Rubiclone" crap? Seems like a smart upgrade to me. Personally ProRocks are out of the budget, so I am going to build a D44 from a bare housing with Superior axles, gears, and an ARB locker. The rear will get Superior's 35 spline upgrade when it comes out and also a ARB. Yes I will have to add a air compressor, but I will be able to control the lockers in any trans case setting, or gear. I would have gotten a Rubicon, but with the same specs as my Sahara, it was another $7k. For that, I will also have Antirocs F/R, axles, lockers, gears, lift, tires, etc. Not knocking the Rubicon at all. Just didn't want to pay for what I would change anyways.

32310 Unlimited Rubicon
28745 Unlimited X w/rear lock and dissconnects
3565 Difference
1500 Front Rubicon Axle
2200 Rubicon 4:1 Transfercase
1100 Gears 4.10
500 BFG muds
With just those few mods I am well over my rubicon price. For me the choice was easy. The Rubicon was the way to go. I have built Jeeps and Trucks in the past and it was fun but now the choice was simple. YOU WILL ALWAYS spend more building your Jeep than just starting out with a Rubicon.
On another note I paid 29,149 for my Jeep through www.encs.com
Take a base 24,000 msrp unlimited X. Adding custom axles alone will cost you 5000 dollars if they have ARB's in them. No matter how you do the math you will always spend more (waste more) money trying to get to what you could have had right out of the box.
